[jamming] wanted: jam curator

As jam travels down yet another fork (majam this time), I'd like to
propose the possibility of someone from the jamming list stepping forward
to be curator of the original jam. I've been doing it since '93, and
as you probably know I've had a few distractions since then. I'd still
like to help steer -- just not do all the rowing.

I'm very protective of jam's ascetic approach and so have been reluctant
to give up the reigns, but recent postings have led me to believe there
are others out there who might be able to bring jam up to date without
fattening it up.

My plan is not to father a superjam that is the union of all various
jams, but rather modernize the core jam so that derivatives would have
a stable, forward-moving base towards which they can at least hope to
converge. There's a lot of housekeeping and improvements that I've been
meaning to get to.

Perforce builds its products with jam, and so we have an interest in its
evolution. To that end, we're willing to subsidize a curator if we could
find the right one.

If anyone out there is interested, drop me a line and we'll see how things
fit.

Christopher
