Dear Perforce User,

We are pleased to announce the GA release of Perforce 2008.1.

This release contains many new features and enhancements, including:

Perforce Server
   - Performance improvements in concurrency (locking) and connection
     protocol buffering
   - The ability to search labels, clients, and branches by name
   - Enhancements to protections

Perforce Visual Client and Perforce Visual Merge Tools (P4V, P4Merge)
   - A new Connection Setup Wizard
   - Ability to view and diff multiple image file formats
   - Enhanced performance and reduced memory consumption

Perforce SCC Plug-in (P4SCC)
   - Improved integration with .NET
   - Support for rename functionality

Perforce Web Client (P4Web)
   - Multiple remote user support
   - Improved filtering

Perforce Defect Tracking Gateway (P4DTG)
   - Replicates subsets of jobs to one or more defect tracking systems
   - Support for the Linux and FreeBSD platforms

Perforce Plug-in for Eclipse and WebSphere Studio (P4WSAD)
   - Enhanced to visually distinguish files that are not in the
     current project
   - Several key bug fixes

The 2008.1 Perforce visual client tools are compatible with Perforce
Server releases 2004.2 through 2008.1.  To ensure that you have access
to new P4V features, install or upgrade to the 2008.1 Perforce Server.
Some P4V features are not available with older servers.  Upgrading your
Perforce Server to 2008.1 is a one-way migration.  Please refer to the
P4/P4D Release Notes for further information.
