Dear Perforce User,
We are pleased to announce the Perforce 2009.2 release of the
Perforce Plug-in for Eclipse and WebSphere Studio (P4WSAD)
and the Perforce Java API (P4Java).
This release contains many new features and enhancements, including:
For the Perforce Plug-in for Eclipse and WebSphere Studio (P4WSAD):
- Support for the new shelving feature allows Eclipse users to cache
modified files on the server without first having to check them
in as a versioned change. Shelved files are organized in pending
changelists that can easily be shared with other users for code
reviews and testing. Shelving is also supported in the 2009.2
version of the Perforce Visual Client (P4V) and the Perforce
Command-line Client (P4).
- P4WSAD now has a fully integrated Eclipse-based Time-lapse View
tool. The Time-lapse View tool provides a graphical view of the
complete content history of an individual file. In a single view,
developers can instantly visualize how the entire content history
of a file has evolved over time. Time-lapse View can leverage
Eclipse's built-in capabilities for language-specific
highlighting when using Eclipse 3.4+.
- File change history is now reported in the standard Eclipse
history view.
- Branch view specifications can now be managed from within the
Eclipse environment.
2009.2 P4WSAD is compatible with Perforce Server releases 2005.2
and higher.
For the Perforce Java API (P4Java):
- The P4Java interface has been restructured to have a simpler naming
paradigm and to improve usability. This brings the API into better
conformance with Java community standards to better support future
extensibility.
- Support has been added for the most common Perforce administration
operations.
- Support for shelving to store work in progress on the server without
submitting files.
2009.2 P4Java is compatible with Perforce Server releases 2007.3
and higher.
