[p4] newbie question: How do you branch from a specific version?

I'm evaluating Perforce and can't figure something out.

How do you branch from a specific version?

I tried creating a branchspec like this:

p4 branch newbranch

then edited the file like this:
--
View:
  //depot/mylabel/... //depot/newbranch/...

--
But when I do:

p4 integrate -b newbranch

it says:

No such file(s).


Can you put a label on the left side of a branch view?
If not, how do you branch off of a label?
