[p4] Perforce Sync does not always work...

In my opinion, this is actually a feature -- you can quickly and
easily see the changelists (work on the go) that everyone else in
the group is doing!

What Perforce *really* needs to satisfy me is an environment
variable called "P4WSROOT", so that you could define a client
spec with the root like this:

     Root: $P4WSROOT/path/to/workspace

This would let people on Unix, Windows, Mac, whatever all use the
same client as long as the adminstrator was careful to set
everyone up so that the same file system was mounted read-write
for everyone, and the local P4ROOT pointed to the base mount of
that file system.

However, I can easily see that Perforce wouldn't want to give
this much flexibility to users as it's a very sharp knife with
which to cut yourself with.

Hmmm -- UNC pathnames, though -- that might work...
