[p4] localhost:11666 refused connection

The message indicates a problem with a __remote__ depot. There's
nothing wrong with your client(s); you have got through to the server
but the server cannot contact localhost:11666 which is where it
expects to find the depot.

If a remote depot wasn't working I don't suppose that would interfere
with p4 info, but it would surely stop you getting much further.

Did you mean to configure a remote depot?

   What the heck is going on here? I set up my workspace, P4 info works fine.
   Whenever I try and sync, I get messages like:

   WARNING: Date 2001/09/21 13:40:07:
       Operation: user-dirs
       Operation 'user-dirs' failed.
       Remote depot 'db.rev' database access failed.
       TCP connect to localhost:11666 failed.
       connect: localhost:11666: Connection refused

   I've tried with Win and Linux clients. Could it be my incredibly worthless
   Starband connection proxy screwing things up? Any hints/clues? There dosn't
   seem to be much in the way of troubleshooting info on the Perforce site :(
