[p4] Will this lock perforce server for a while?

I am running: Server version: P4D/LINUX22X86/2002.2/42453 (2003/03/11) - I
know, not really the latest version...

I have a monitoring process which pings our perforce server port.  This
causes the following message to appear in the perforce logs:

Perforce server error:
	Date 2004/12/22 13:08:45:
	Connection from <someIP> broken.
	Partner exited unexpectedly.

would that cause a performance issue for the server?  something like being
awaken by the ping and waiting for a perforce command to come and finally
giving up.
