[p4] p4proxy advice?

I've used ssh tunnels before.  VPN on the cheap.  You can
easily set up a script with will reconstruct the tunnels
if they go down.

Has anyone had any experience trying to secure a proxy connection?  I 
really don't want to have a permanent VPN connection, although that is 
an option.
