[p4] Criteria in evaluating an SCM system

SCM systems are not necessarily directly competitive products.
To some degree, you're asking "How does a Bicycle, a Motorcycle, a Honda
Accord, and a Dump Truck compare?" Each of those vehicles are appropriate
for some people and tasks, and wildly inappropriate for others.
The criteria for your organization will be different than the criteria for
mine (or anyone else's.) Although if you want to share some details about
your current software process and company size, people might be able to
provide some useful input.
Some specific comments:
Perforce doesn't, in theory, handle disconnected and multi-site work as well
as some systems (i.e. BitKeeper). If that's not a requirement for you, it
would not be a drawback at all.
It actually costs money, while some systems are cheaper or free. It is,
IMO, very reasonably priced, but I don't know your budget.
