[p4] How to determine changed files in the depot

I'm struggling on this, so would really appreciate any pointers
 
What I'd like to do is to be able to sync so I have a set of files which
are the ones which have changed since e.g. date X, but doesn't have the
unchanged files
- basically so I can build a patch update of the changed files, rather
than have to do a full update of a machine
 
Looking a the command guide, page 153, I can see the example of "p4 sync
@2001/06/24" for up to midnight 24th June, but how do I get all from a
date ?
