[p4] Concerns when switching to Internationlization mode (P4d -xi)

One of our engineers is doing work with one or two filenames with
Kanji characters that they want to check into P4. We're running in the
default mode currently.
As I understand it, to move to support Kanji, we need to restart the
server with P4D -xi to toggle unicode support, then restart it again
to enable the unicode support, then all clients that will connect to
the server need to set their P4CHARSET environment variable to
shiftjis.

Are there any other things to be aware of? What are the negative
impacts (other than the additional setup step for every client)?
