I've heard rumors that Microsoft's version control system 
is based on P4 code base that they bought from Perforce
quite some time ago. Though, I haven't heard Perforce confirming
this :)

I wouldn't be surprised. Given the size of MS' codebase if would be
hard to pull it through without having something like P4 backing the 
development efforts.

If this is true you'll see lots of similarities.
