[p4] Checking in VS2005 project/scc files

Hi all,
I am using VS2005 to automatically check in a new solution/project file
into Perforce.
Along with the .sln, and .csproj files, it also wants to add a
.csproj.vspscc and a .vssscc file.
>From what I've read on Google (on these lists and perforce web site)
posts seem to say to not check in these files, but they seem to apply to
the first VS.NET with its messed up SCC, not VS2005.
1) I'm wondering if I should or should not check these files in. We have
them checked in now and it doesn't seem to matter any.
2) When I do check these files in, Perforce types them as Unicode files.
I have my perforce settings to UTF-8 (in P4V) and utf-bom for P4CHARSET.
These files are straight ascii text files, no high order bytes in them
at all.
Anyone have any ideas on why Perforce is 'incorrectly' (from my
viewpoint) classifying these files as Unicode and not just plain text?
Thanks all,
- Josh
