When I found that more than 36000 files were deleted, then can I not assume that I am unnecessarily copying those 36000 files (out of which, most are binary files). This depots are used by the Techinal Publications group and they mostly deal with pdf, jpg, book etc binary files, so the depot is also full of binary files (total depot size is > 50 GB). And when they delete any file, and if they dont need those files in future, I think those files should be obliterated.

The challenge is "if they don't need those files." Who can tell? The
usual way to handle this is to make the team aware of their space
consumption and backup time. Tell them that beyond a certain point
they'll have to pay their own way. Or arrange to have archives made
every release, then obliterate.
