[p4] Perforce and PuTTY

Hi All,
I was trying the perforce client for linux to connect to perforce server 
but using Telnet/SSH program called PuTTY i managed to make putty to 
connect to the server, where perforce didn't i got the message

TCP connect to localhost fail : 1666

What i am doing to connect perforce is make it connect to localhost and 
putty connect it to the server, what i think is happening that the 
perforce can't connect to the localhost but why ? is there any 
configurations in linux i should do to enable connecting to localhost, 
please help me i need to use it as soon as possible.
