[p4] PYPERFORCE

Hi,

It would be useful if you could describe what it is exactly you want to do
with PyPerforce. It's a little hard to give good answers to such generalised
questions unless you can add some context.

Why, for example, do you have doubts about the performance of PyPerforce?
What kind of transactions on what size of database are you anticipating that
lead to such doubts?

My honest recommendation would be to simply try it. Apart from a little time
investment, it is a zero cost option, and will also aid your learning of how
the scripting will fit into your overall SCM processes.

If you know Python then you should have no difficulty with the learning
curve. If you are more familiar with other scripting languages, then first
look at those via the Perforce website. People use shell programming, Perl,
Ruby, .NET, C++ and a whole host of variants to do their automation. What is
"better" is dependent upon what you are currently familiar with, what you
are willing to learn, and what you want to do in what environments.
