We're using a fairly complex system where there's an `admin` interface,
and a `free` interface with multiple backends, parts of which are
shared though sync machines. We have search banks and multiple
databases. So until we figure out a good way to share those services
between multiple web-servers, we're stuck!

I agree, it is mostly inertia - but until we change enough, I'm looking
for an temporary solution to mimic our ClearCase setup.
