I have had the same experience here. You can not use the Explorer plug
in over a slow network connection, such as a VPN. It's making a Perforce
call on every click, and if the packets take too long to get through to
the Perforce server, using Explorer will be painful. We had to have all
of our remote users uninstall it.

Subject: [p4] Slow file browsing problem Windows Explorer
Hi,
I have a user with a "slow file browsing" on Windows Explorer. The issue
seems to have been with the Perforce Windows Explorer plugin. We have
uninstalled the plugin and can now browse at a normal speed.
We are using version 2005.1.
Do you have any problems with this plug-in?
Thanks,
Monica
