[p4] p4v and alt roots

I have a client on linux, and I also want to use p4v on it, so I have
the altroot set to the necessary path.  (that is, use p4v on windows
for the client based on linux, using a netapp shared file system)

it sorta works, but things like diff say they can't find the file.

Is there a way to get it to use the alt root, or does this not work in p4v?
