[p4] 1200 to 2000 file checkouts

I've had a problem similar to that in the past. We only had about 100
files and it would hang for sometimes up to 10 minutes when syncing.
Most of the time it would take 2 minutes minimum. We later found out
that the server was set to auto-negotiate between 100Mb or Gigabit
network connection, which was causing the huge delays. When it was
switched to just Gigabit, things went much faster. Since our code/user
base is small, we're using a desktop PC as our server, backed up
nightly. Real enterprise servers may be already dedicated to straight
Gigabit.

Howdy everyone,

I have a group that is starting to use Perforce and they routinely
sync
and check file sets in the 1200 to 2000 file range. We have noticed
that the latest Perforce server and P4V client basically hangs when
working with file sets that large and P4Win isn't much better.

Anyone else dealing with this issue have any suggestions?

Using the command line is really not an option for these folks. These
are a bunch of content managers and editors responsible for creating
training materials for our customers and staff.

Thanks
