We hit this problem outside of Perforce over a year ago. Half our QA
people couldn't copy our images from the network and half could.
Turned out the successful ones had mapped a drive to the network share,
while the others used the \\machine\ style path. The extra six or
eight characters pushed the paths to some of the files out past the
limit.
