[p4] How does Bitkeeper compare to Perforce?

I don't think answering FUD with similar attacks will help anyone to make an
intelligent decision. Is true, the document compared an old version of
Perforce and have exagerate some "perceived flaws" in Perforce and we can
blame them on this (especially that Perforce seems to have done a great job
in their own comparaison documents --
http://www.perforce.com/perforce/reviews.html ).
The basic thing in all this stuff, I think, is that SCM and DSCM have very
different semantics and workflow. You have to plane carefully before
switching because using a DSCM just like it was a regular SCM is a recipe
for disaster. You have to rethink completely your process model, especially
in the authorization and release path. If you have a process that matches
well with Perforce, chance that it will not match so correctly in BitKeeper,
and the reverse is also true.
So, instead of comparing oranges with apples, I think it's better to define
what you want to do and then find out which system work best for you.
Comparaison among such different systems is doomed to endless and often
inappropriate arguments otherwise.
Hope this help,
Fabien
