I always recommend this - saves possible embarrassment, and allows some
testing to make sure nothing nasty will happen.
Because you are skipping the versions with db.archive, you won't incur the
overhead of that upgrade which was an unpleasant surprise if you didn't know
about it (e.g. previous upgrades p4d -xu took minutes, that one took hours
in some cases).
