I would try it from the command line to see how that works.

I've found that the VMWare automounter for the shared file systems can be
very slow to respond, so slow that a lot of applications time out on it if
it hasn't been refreshed VERY recently. I've also found that it's sometimes
not very good at responding when a full path is provided rather than
navigating to it one directory at a time in a graphical tool.

Make sure your environment is set up properly to try it from the command
line. A P4CONFIG file is a good idea for that. If that works, keep a
command prompt open that is cd'ed to that directory and see if the P4WSAD
works any better.

Subject: [p4] Eclipse plugin - keeps saying '{path} not under client's
root'- stumped

Ok, I've been googling forever and about to just give up...

I'm trying to use Eclipse and the perforce plugin on Linux (Fedora7)
that is running on vmware on a WindowsXP host.

WindowsXp also has a client setup (C:\p4client ).

I have the root set up as C:\p4client and I have an alt root set up as
/mnt/hgfs/windows/p4client (this is a mount to the windows
C:\p4client directory).

Whenever I try to do open for edit or add in Eclipse using the
perforce plugin (right click team options) I get the error about path
/mnt/hgfs/windows/p4client/{path to file} is not under cient's root
'C:\p4client'

What am I doing wrong? or anything I should try? Thanks for any help.

(I've also tried having an altroot point to a different local
directory on the Linux system, but that didn't help either.)
