[p4] Is a 1500 line protect table excessive?

Hi,

Sorry to come back to this one month old thread, but I would like to know how 
you calculated these performance improvements of ~20-30%? I'm about to do 
modifications to our protect table and would like to calculate our 
improvements.

I'm responsible for all things relating to Perforce administration except the 
server side stuff (not an IT person).
