[p4] Is vista not supported?

I'm trying to run the client software only from a vista machine, but
it doesn't seem to work at all. I just installed a little test server
on one of the machines at home and initially trying to connect to it
from a vista machine yields the error:
c:\>p4 -p stargate:1666 info
Perforce client error:
Connect to server failed; check $P4PORT.
TCP connect to stargate:1666 failed.
connect: stargate:1666: WSAETIMEDOUT
My connection seems fine, a telnet to the above port from the same
computer works fine. Turning off the windows firewall also has no
effect. Elevating my privileges to root doesn't seem to have any
effect either. I downloaded the current version of the p4win package
(2007.3/140107). In the release notes for p4win, Vista is not listed
as one of the supported operating systems though ... is perforce not
supposed to work at all on Vista (i.e. is vista completely useless...)
?
Cheers,
Jim
