We had this problem.
For us it was a mismatch between the p4 environment variables, p4tickets
file, and how our users logged into the p4v GUI.
This is what we suggested to our users.
Close P4V.
Delete .p4tickets file
Check P4PORT, P4CLIENT, and P4USER environment variables.
Make sure your P4PORT and the port setting you use in the connection
dialog match exactly.
Log back into the P4V client and see if you have the same issue.

Subject: [p4] Continuously being prompted for password using linux p4v
client
Hello all,
I am using the latest linux p4v client: Rev. Perforce Visual
Client/LINUX26X86_64/2008.1/164135
and for for some reason, my client continuously prompts me for my
password.
Each time I view a directory in the repo, I get the password dialog box.
When I decide to check something out, it also prompts me. It doesn't do
this for my windows client though. Has anyone experienced this issue?
It's quite annoying :) When I login, the client tells me that my ticket
will expire in 2 hours.
Thanks
